Each year I tell you how amazing this trip is, and this year is no exception. It is very exciting to be here with Dawn and Tina on their first trip. Tina and I are working together in a bathroom that is being gutted, floor and all fixtures, and it certainly is a challenge. We, the team are all confident we will finish within the week. More later.... - B2

Did I mention the bathroom?

Tuesday's Tasks
Today my team got most of the tile put down on a living room floor. This room has no square corners and a huge rolling hump in the middle. It still looks great, better than the painted particle board. We also finished sheetrocking and trimming around a new shower stall put in by a previous group. We hope to finish the tile floor tomorrow and start putting up ceiling molding. I am having fun with Cathy and Barbara and the girls. - Dawn

Nails, Nails, Oh Nails
Today was an interesting day. My team had to work in a bathroom The teamwork was amazing, but it was a little frustrating because my team had to undo work that was done the week before. It turned out that the team before us made the floor of the bathroom unleveled. Also the floor covered in nails and WE had to take them out! Every nail taken out was a reason for celebration. Tomorrow is going to be even better because we are going to start doing the work we were actually assigned! :D -Tina
Oh Bathrooms!
Once again, I have been graced with the opportunity to work on a bathroom. As you can see I am not too thrilled about it because there are no right angles in this bathroom, but I am always up for a challenge. I am also group leader again which is exciting because I enjoy teaching people skills that they do not have, even if it is not a lot. The biggest challenge I am facing is the fact that I am the youngest person in my group but I have to lead them. Everyone is really nice, but there are definitely a lot of personalities in my group so it should be an interesting the rest of week. Something I am proud of is that I was able to teach someone how to use a drill today! I know there is more in store and I am going to be positive because there is a lot to be done in the bathroom.
Wish me luck!

My Fabulous First Day :)
Once again I got a roofing job but I am not complaining because in my opinion it is much better then working on a bathroom. Today we started nailing furning strips and tin on the roof. It was really hot up there with the tin but we got a lot done. My team is working really well together so far, and we have already had so much fun :) I'm really looking forward to the rest of the week and completing our project by Friday! - Katie
Your assignment, should you wish to accept it, is...
Today we got our assignments. 2011 is the year of the bathroom! There are six worksites, and only one is not a bathroom. It is a roof, and Katie Lacouture was happy to be assigned there! Cathy's project has two bathrooms -- one needs new plumbing and construction around the tub/shower, and the other needs an accessible shower.
The first day is always a struggle, because we do not know exactly what tools to bring or what the full scope of the job might be. The homeowners we met are gracious and generous, as we stomp through their homes, often leaving destruction in our path before the improvement begins.
